NTCRS Review is Timely and Welcomed

Posted by | October 17, 2014 | ANZRP, E-Waste, Recycling | No Comments

The Hon Greg Hunt, Minister for the Environment, recently announced a review into operational aspects of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS).

As we indicated to the Minister in a meeting last week, ANZRP welcomes this very timely review and believes that it is in the best interests of the Scheme. We will participate in the review and will share our expertise and experience about its implementation and areas of enquiry as needed.

ANZRP shares the regulator’s view that greater responsibility needs to be taken by individual states for managing a share of e-waste recycling, and we strongly believe the Scheme must be driven by fair and transparent partnerships that are beneficial to all parties, from liable parties and CAs to collection partners and recyclers.

As the only not-for-profit industry-for-industry (and the largest) Co-regulatory Arrangement (CA) under the NTCRS, ANZRP has a strong commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Scheme.

Now is the time for us to come together and all take greater responsibility for the products we consume, to ensure sound end-of-life treatment and a vibrant e-waste recycling industry that operates to standards and achieves high material recovery from safe work practices.
